    All-Star Award.

Whole Foods Market Work History (1994-2003)

  • 1994: Hired as Whole Body Team Member (Mrs. Gooch's, Northridge, CA).
  • Received 100% score on Whole Foods Market's suggested nutrition, natural healthcare and natural products training program, Bastyr College Natural Foods Education Program (30 take home lessons, 10-25 pages each, 100 question test).
  • 1995: Promoted to Whole Body Associate Team Leader in early 1995. Helped the Northridge, CA, Whole Body department receive Regional All-Star Award for the Southern Pacific Region in 1995 (the Southern Pacific Region is the most advanced region at Whole Foods Market for nutrition and natural healthcare research; the Northridge store was eventually closed and relocated to Porter Ranch). Helped raise the Whole Body Department's store sales percentage from 14% to 20% of store sales.
  • 1996: Helped the store receive honorable mention All-Star Award for the Southern Pacific region.
  • 1997: Transferred to the West Los Angeles store, one of the company's top 20 sales volume stores at the time. The Whole Body department already had an Associate Team Leader and a Team Leader. Worked as an unofficial Associate Team Leader (Whole Body departments only used one Associate Team Leader at the time), nutritional supplement and book buyer, and team member trainer for the Whole Body department and store, training team members in the use of Whole Body products and store products to promote health.
  • 1997: Helped the West Los Angeles, CA, Whole Body department and store receive National All-Star Awards.
  • 1997/98: Promoted to Whole Body Team Leader of a new store opening in Arizona (Tempe), the region's first out of state new store opening. Completed most of the initial buying for the store and hired an Associate Team Leader who eventually became a Whole Body Team Leader for Whole Foods and Nutrition Department Coordinator for another chain of health food stores in CA. Returned to the West LA store due to some responsibilities in LA which were very time consuming and starting to adversely affect my work.
  • 1998/99: Pursued individual studies in naturopathic medicine, focused on furthering my natural healthcare research. Was planning to go to Bastyr University in Seattle for naturopathic medical school, or to do Internet work for top naturopathic doctors (the founders of the school).
  • 1999: Transferred from the Southern Pacific Region to the Mid-Atlantic Region, to the Callowhill, PA, store as a nutritional supplements and books buyer (and unofficial Associate Team Leader; again, the department already had a Team Leader and Associate Team Leader, and Whole Body teams only used one Associate Team Leader at the time) to be near family and learn computers and Internet marketing.
  • 2000: Dropped to 1/2 time at Whole Foods Market to pursue studies in computers and web technologies. Worked 1/2 time at Whole Foods Market in Callowhill, PA, and 1/2 time at CompUSA in Wilmington, DE - two of the highest volume stores for both companies at the time. Worked 8 months, no days off, to push my natural healthcare knowledge and computer knowledge. Received Employee of the Month awards at both Fortune 500 companies during this time (Department level Employee of the Month at Whole Foods Market, Store level Employee of the Month at CompUSA for generating outstanding sales and margin results).
  • 2001: Helped open the South Street store. Worked as Whole Body nutritional supplements and books buyer (due to 30 hrs/wk work, still working 1/2 time at Whole Foods Market and 1/2 time at CompUSA).
  • 2002/03: Helped open the Pittsburgh store, one of the most successful new store openings in the region at the time. Worked as a Shift Leader (and somewhat as an unofficial second Associate Store Team Leader; the store opened with only one ASTL and no second ASTL), Store Systems Integrator, and Team Member trainer - training new store team members in the store's products. Worked in each of the store's departments. Received Employee of the Month for the store during the first month the store was open (the store selected about 6 people out of 180 team members to receive this award), and Admin Employee of the month during my last month of work of the store.
  • 1994 to 2003: Worked in 25 Whole Foods Market stores helping out with resets, new store openings and covering shifts; visited over 50 Whole Foods Market stores.
  • 2003: Moved to Seattle to pursue studies in naturopathic medicine and/or web work for top naturopathic doctors (the founders of Bastyr University).

Nutrition and Natural Healthcare Research

  • 1984-2002: Completed enough college credits for a Master's Degree (in three majors Engineering, Dietetics, Web Design/Internet Marketing). Studied sports nutrition extensively and tested the research during sports competitions (college football, marathons, advanced martial arts training). Student member of the American Dietetics Association and American Dietetics Association's Sports Nutrition Group.
  • 1994: Hired at Mrs. Gooch's/Whole Foods Market during my third year of Dietetics studies. Whole Foods Market's Southern Pacific region provided outstanding training in nutrition and natural healthcare, better training than I was receiving in Dietetic studies in college.
  • 1994-2000, 2003-06: Pursued individual studies in nutrition and natural healthcare intensely. Worked as a book buyer for many years at Whole Foods Market. Regularly read the books sold at Whole Foods during my off-hours, with a focus on naturopathic medicine books and textbooks. Produced natural healthcare book best seller lists and best sellers by category. Posted the lists in Whole Foods book departments to help share top healthcare research with coworkers and customers - and rock DSHEA structure/function claims to promote nutritional supplement sales!
  • 1999-2001: Volunteer work with the Pennsylvania Association of Naturopathic Physicians.
  • 2001: Produced my first web site (an alternative medicine site to share top natural healthcare research). The site is no longer online due to intense work on other web projects.
  • 2003: Worked at Dr. Jonathan Wright's Tahoma Clinic in Seattle. Dr. Wright is one of the top researchers in the natural healthcare industry.
  • 2003-05: Worked at an ayurvedic medicine and naturopathic medicine clinic, which also ran an alternative medicine school featuring continuing education programs and a Master's Degree program in Ayurvedic Medicine. The doctor who ran the clinic had an ayurvedic M.D. degree from India and a naturopathic doctor degree from Bastyr University. Worked with the doctor and other doctors on a daily basis. Received Employee of the Year Award.
  • 2005: Spent about $3,000 on cutting-edge natural healthcare physician visits and testing at Dr. Wright's Tahoma Clinic in Seattle.
  • 2006: Internet marketing work on-site at the Hippocrates Institute in Florida, one of the top raw food healing centers in the world.
  • 2007: Developed a new site, naturalhealthcare.org, to replace the site I developed in 2001 to share top natural healthcare research. Mostly, this project has been put on hold while I've worked on other web projects.
  • 2006-10: Volunteer, non-profit work with one of the top authors in the natural healthcare industry, Burton Goldberg, founder of Alternative Medicine magazine and author of 18 books on alternative medicine (sold in Borders, Barnes & Noble and Whole Foods Market stores), including Alternative Medicine, The Definitive Guide. Regularly managed top alternative medicine information and customer questions related to alternative cancer treatments.
  • 2010: Completed Organic Produce College certification program from Albert's Organics, the largest organic produce distributor in the U.S. The program includes information on organic standards, handling organic produce, merchandizing, marketing, pricing strategies, achieving margin and delivering outstanding customer service.
  • 2010: Natural Healthcare Research Example - Detox Diet: A Quick Guide to Supporting the Body's Detoxification Systems and Promoting Optimal Health
  • 2010: Current Projects
    • Managing a Facebook Healthcare Fan Page and Facebook Healthcare Group and with over 200 and 500 members.
    • Preparing a highly advanced nutrition database for generating natural healthcare protocols for promoting health.
    • Preparing nutritional recommendations for the top healthcare conditions (organizing the healthcare research I've come across during my nutrition studies and work at top natural healing centers).
    • Mainly, I'm working on organizing my hard drive and my natural healthcare research, clearing my plate of the details of all prior projects, and moving forward with a focus on advancing my natural healthcare research and studies.

  • 2003-05: Worked at an ayurvedic medicine and naturopathic medicine clinic, which also ran an alternative medicine school featuring continuing education programs and a Master's Degree program in Ayurvedic Medicine. Worked as Associate School Director/VP of Marketing/Internet Marketing Director for the school, medical clinic and line of ayurvedic nutritional supplements. Helped the business achieve great financial and Internet marketing success. Received Employee of the Year Award. Led the company's web site from non-functional (content hadn't been updated in two years, online store was non-functional, the site had less than 10 visitors per day) to a top 100,000 ranked site on the Internet (ranking source, Alexa.com, owned by Amazon; wholefoodsmarket.com is a top 8,000 ranked site online) with natural healthcare and nutritional supplement product bundles/package deals (to raise the average sale per transaction) and online enrollment for the school's courses (which led to online sales of over $10,000 per transaction).
