1994 to 10/2003: Whole Foods Markets - a Fortune 500 company, Pittsburgh PA

    • Designed an E -Newsletter for Whole Foods Markets - wrote all content, designed format, designed title graphic. See: www.altmedlinks.com/resume/web/enewsletter.htm.
    • Outstanding references available.
  • Key Skills and Transferable Skills attained during 10 years work with Whole Foods Market, a Fortune 500 Company. These skills strongly correlate to outstanding future success in the field of Internet Marketing:
    1. 10 years full-time experience co-managing the in-store marketing efforts for Whole Foods Market stores with 10,000 to 25,000 shoppers per week.
      Transferable skill
: Very similar responsibilities to managing a web site with 25,000 visitors per week. Primary responsibilities: regularly evaluating and predicting future business trends (through leadership meetings, industry research, marketing plans and ordering projections), managing, ordering and merchandising marketing materials (natural health handouts and books; a responsibility similar to managing web marketing efforts), meeting & exceeding customer needs to ensure outstanding financial growth and overall business success, and managing team member and business partner relationships.
    2. Developed expert skills in managing a huge amount of information.
I worked as the primary in-store "database" - ordering, storing, merchandising and distributing information about the store's products, health conditions, alternative medicine physicians, healing centers and reference web sites for 10 years in the highest volume health food stores of the country. Beyond the job responsibilities, I had a responsibility to do my best in this regard for consumers - as alternative healthcare information (from 1994 to 2003) was not available in a very usable format elsewhere. My information management skills were highly challenged and pushed to high levels of development during this time.
Transferable skill: Management of large scale web sites (in regards to content management) and all of the related contact, vendor and business information associated with a large scale web site.
    3. Developed the ability to successfully manage a huge contact database.
Managed ordering responsibilities for 7000 skus of nutritional supplements, natural bodycare items and books, sales representative contact information, local business contact information and consumer ordering information.
      Transferable skill
: Ability to manage 1000s of link partners and affiliates (and their contact and product information) with ease.
    4. Developed expert customer service skills during over 100,000 1 on 1 interactions with consumers during these 10 years.
      Transferable skill
: Strong usability design skills, and outstanding sales in presenting (and increasing the effectiveness of) sales materials. I learned exactly what consumers are looking for in regards to usable, effective sales related information, and how to most effectively present this information without coming across as a salesperson.
      Transferable skill
: Merchandising products to increase sales per transaction, increase the sales of high margin items, and increase opportunities for add-on product sales.
    5. Worked as the Lead Customer Service Team Member, Sales Leader and Store Trainer - primarily because I excelled in management of information (related to all of the products sold in the store) and presenting this information in a consumer friendly and effective sales format to consumers and team members.
      Transferable skills
: Online sales skills, information management and presentation skills, site usability, design, layout and editing.
    6. Regularly ordered and merchandize most of the sales literature for the stores - including the store's book departments (which regularly offered over 1000 titles) and a big section of in-store handouts for consumers..both of which heavily promoted the store's products. Regularly reset store book departments to highlight top natural healthcare research.
      Transferable skill:
The marketing skills necessary for selecting written sales materials to promote product sales are very similar to the marketing skills needed to design web pages which promote significant web traffic and online sales. Obtained extensive experience presenting information to consumers in a usable and sales generating format.
    7. Extensive experience working with and negotiating with 1000s of vendors.
      Transferable skill
: Very similar to working with and negotiating with 1000s of web affiliates and link partners (and managing their contact and product information).
    8. Extensive experience building sales and market share in a rapidly developing industry.
Transferable skill: The ability to increase web traffic and online sales in a rapidly expanding industry - Internet Marketing.
    9. So...I gained considerable experience which directly relates to developing, leading and maintaining a high traffic web business: Significant sales and traffic building experience, contact management, information management, writing and managing sales materials, marketing event calendar management, business projections, vendor negotiations, products merchandising, give-away content, business management skills and team member development skills.
    10. And...I therefore already have extensive experience in the management of 25,000 shoppers/online web site visitors per week - the site traffic for a Top 30,000 web site! A top 1000 site likely receives about 25 times this level of traffic, so there are still some things I'll need to learn, but I'm very confident this won't be a problem. Objective results of 10 PhD developed quizzes listed on my Personal Profile web page provide further details supporting this belief, and my ability to lead a site to a Top 1000 Site Ranking on the Internet.

2001 to Present: AltMedLinks.com. Founder/Webmaster/E-Marketing Director

Responsibilities include: All business ownership and financial responsibilities, Internet marketing, affiliate account management (approx. 120 accounts), web design and editing, non-profit grant proposal writing.
